Campus connects uni students with Jesus, builds them in their faith, and sends them to do the same.“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” (Romans 12:11)
I am a single mum with a 12 year old daughter. First year in Highschool and going into ministry is an exciting milestone for both of us.
My journey with Power to Change began in 2023. God used the name Power to Change to catch my attention coming from my social justice background. I was curious about the name and to my surprise I was told the name 'Power to Change' was about Jesus. For me it was and still is a ‘wow moment’ yes of course ‘Jesus is the Power to Change’ is all I could think off and that excited me greatly. I never really thought about it that way. This was a critical time for me seeking God and the ministry he was calling me into. I volunteered for two weeks in 2023 and decided to commit as a weekly volunteer in 2024. I felt drawn to International Student Campus Ministry, being an international student myself in the late nineties.
I wanted to share Jesus and for 6months I did that with Power to Change English corner program for international students.
Students would come on their own or they would come with a group of friends. It was exciting to share Jesus with them. There would be questions or statements, like “I heard Jesus was a myth” they were needing some clarity as we started reading chapters of the Bible together. Questions about the pharisee's and disciples and miracles by Jesus were the other exciting discussions.
At this point I had a strong feeling that this was the ministry God was calling me into…looking back I can see how God was leading me to Power to Change…connecting me and engaging me in this ministry sharing Jesus with international students.
The hardest to reach countries in the world are now at our very doorstep. Sharing Jesus to International students is our responsibility and this means through them the gospel can reach their friends, their colleagues, their families, their neighborhoods and ultimately their home countries or wherever they are sent to work. They now have the opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ, attend a local church, and study the Bible in ways they could never do back home.
Jesus said, “…go and make disciples of all nations….”
(Mathew 28:18-20)
